Since I am still relatively new to blogging, I can’t tell you how great a community it is because you already know you share a common interest.  I make friendships with people through social media and may never meet them. I was lucky to have connected with Simone Anne of We Are Adventure.Us. She is an amazing photographer and shares her travel journeys and local California activities.

As you may know from my prior Muir Woods post, I was recently in the Bay Area. She provided me with suggestions on things to do and invited me to her first social media meetup. Not knowing what to expect, Andy and I headed to the Fitzgerald Marine Reserve just north of Half Moon Bay to meet Simone and the others attending.

What a great turnout for my first ever Instagram meetup. We all used the hashtag #fitzymeet to see the photo perspectives being captured. Even though I was not able to spend much time with Simone, it was great being able to connect in real life.

The Fitzgerald Marine Reserve is a short drive from San Francisco and a wonderful coastal area to explore and watch the sunset. Waves crashing against the rocky shoreline and filling the tidal pools with marine life, it is hard not to enjoy.

I took many photographs with my Canon T3i camera, along with my camera phone, so I could tag and share my photos instantly. Here are some of my favorite Instagram photos from the meetup:

Someone snagged this one of me enjoying the meetup.

If you are looking for a day trip away from San Francisco, take the short drive to Half Moon Bay and the Fitzgerald Marine Reserve. Half Moon Bay also has a wonderful brewery that we stopped at with outdoor seating and excellent seafood.

Where is your favorite place to watch the sun set?
