Since it is the day after Thanksgiving and there is not much time until Christmas, I guess it is time to think about Christmas gifts. Throughout the year, I have been pinning ideas of what I would need to add to my travel collections. Since I am not a nomad, it means having travel decorations in the house as well to get inspired to travel. Here are a few things that I would highly suggest buying your travel lover friend or family member:

Travel books, Guidebooks and/or Travel Magazines

Depending on travel preference, some like different guidebooks. There are many options out there from LoneyPlanet to Frommer’s to Rough Guides (my favorite). Some great travel magazine subscriptions include AFAR and National Geographic Traveler.

Travel ReadingPhotography Gear

From ergonomic camera straps to batteries to extra memory cards to tripods. This will definitely please the traveler that loves to capture every moment on film (or these days on memory card). Fotostrap makes great ergonomic straps to make carrying a camera around more comfortable. ONA Bags are stylish camera bags that do not have camera brand logos, which is great for preventing thieving eyes.

Photography_GearElectronics

E-Readers and tablets are great for long flights or road trips. I highly recommend Kindle products since they are linked to Amazon (where I do most of my shopping). Any accessories to go along with electronics already owned can also be a great gift. Some accessories include batteries memory cards, protective cases, and screen protectors.

Luggage and/or Backpacks

Depending on the type of traveler, luggage or backpacks are necessary for travel. I personally love Osprey packs for my travel needs, but Eagle Creek’s packing cubes, Sea to Summit’s stuffed sacks, and Gobi Gear’s Hoboroll make packing more easy and organized.

GearFor the Outdoor Lover

A new light-weight tent, sleeping bag, or sleeping pad may do the trick. However, sometimes it is hard to know what gear to buy as a gift. I definitely recommend reading TONS of product reviews before buying something to make sure the gear is durable. I know the element of surprise is ruined if you ask, so search for possible wish lists on Amazon or REI or ask a close mutual friend that does the outdoor activity with the person.

Gift Cards

I usually receive gift cards to Amazon or REI, so I can decide what I want to buy myself when the time comes. Since I live across the country from my family, gift cards are perfect because they are small for my return flight home.

Home Decor

Canvas prints of pictures taken during travels are always great for remembering trips and decorating or personalizing a home. Groupons or Livingsocial deals are easy to find for canvas prints. Other crafty memorabilia can be made from souvenirs or post cards laying around the house. For more inspiration for travel decor, check out my Pinterest Board.

PinterestHomemade Gifts

Etsy has a great variety of travel journals to jewelry and accessories for your weary traveler. Speakeasy Supply Company makes an excellent infinity scarf with a hidden pocket. Perrin22’s jewelry and cards are travel themed and make great keepsakes of places traveled. If your traveler journals while traveling, consider a gift from Blue Toad Journals.
