Lately, I’ve been in my winter routine. Go to work during the week and ski on the weekends. Not wanting to use a vacation day but needing a break from the norm, I decided a staycation was just what I needed.

Unlike other “vacation” rental websites, I noticed Glamping Hub has more vacation rentals than home rentals, which makes the experience feel more like a vacation than staying at a friend’s house.

What better way to spend a staycation than getting away from the house chores than stay in a treehouse?

Always looking for unique experiences, I searched to find a rustic getaway for a night. I’ve always wanted to stay in a treehouse, but the ones in Fall City are too commercial for my liking. Plus, I was able to explore an area I normally drive past. With plans to catch up with friends that live a little further than our normal stomping grounds, I searched the Woodinville, WA area.

Cottage Lake

With only one night on the books, I tried to make the most of an early evening check-in to see the treehouse in the daylight hours. Talking to the owner, the treehouse was built in 2010 by the same architect, Pete Nelson, as the ones in Fall City. After showing us around the property, we were left to relax in the treehouse as the setting sun lit up the clouds over Cottage Lake.

Treehouse Love

I soaked up the scene before heading out to meet up with friends. I wanted to stay longer and set my phone aside to enjoy every minute of it. Once returning for the night, we enjoyed the peace and quiet of the lake with occasional music from inside the owner’s house. Staying on the water was an added bonus as we headed down to the shore. If only it were summer, we could’ve taken out the kayaks.

Cottage Lake Treehouse

The stay felt like a B&B without interacting with other guests. The owner left breakfast for us since we had planned for an early start. My only complaint was having to go into the owner’s house to use the restroom (there was an outhouse available for emergencies). I didn’t mind much but it made going in the middle of the night a chore. The simplicity of the treehouse though made if feel cozy and intimate.

Staying in a Treehouse

It will be hard to forget how the treehouse swayed as we walked around or the bird-like views of Cottage Lake from a tree. I fulfilled a childhood dream of sleeping in a treehouse.

Since it was the first time I used Glamping Hub, I wanted to note a few differences from other vacation rentals I’ve used.

Glamping Hub Pros:

  • Unique, rustic experiences for people that want to be close to nature with amenities.
  • Ease of sorting through the available rentals by location, price, etc.
  • Wide variety of price ranges to fit different travel styles.

Glamping Hub Cons:

  • Nice have: A way to save properties to view later to help narrow down favorites.
