With visions of white canopy tents lining the streets of West Seattle and Ballard, it is not hard to find ongoing festivals within the Greater Seattle area. This is my first summer in Seattle. It has not taken me long to realize that Seattle has a lot going on. Why would they not have festivals and events when the weather is perfect during the summer months?

With need of a little break from being on the go, we stayed local over the weekend. Below are Instagram photos of my fun festival weekend in Seattle.

West Seattle Summerfest

Art vendors, sunshine, music, and beer garden on a gorgeous summer day was all we needed to enjoy the festivities.

After the festival, we decided to eat at Duke’s Chowder House, a seafood restaurant located across from Alki Beach before meeting up with friends for drinks in Ballard. Alki Beach is one of the most popular beaches near Seattle. This strip of sand provides views of the Olympic Peninsula and mountain rain, making it a great location to enjoy a colorful West Coast sunset.

Ballard Seafood Festival

This 39th annual festival is well organized with many food options and a large beer garden promoting local microbreweries lasting a full weekend. Ballard is known for its Scandinavian seafaring community, so it is the perfect location to host such an event. Don’t worry if you are not a seafood person; there are plenty of other food options if you can handle smelling fish dishes throughout the day.
