Every month from now on I will be sharing a flashback image from my travels.

What this photo means to me:

Space exploration and research.

Behind the scenes story:

I had just completed my co-op at NASA and was able to get tickets to the shuttle launch. Andy and I drove down to Florida from Pennsylvania to watch. After a few scrubs and being at the launch viewing area up to 10 minutes before being launched/scrubbed, we were finally able to see it the last day of our vacation. Since it was a night launch, we were able to watch the boosters break off and the shuttle until it was only a speck in the sky. The experience was truly amazing.

Year: 2009

Location: Kennedy Space Center, Florida

Location:

Kennedy Space Center has a great Visitor Center to learn more about the history of space exploration, along with a rocket park. Near Cocoa Beach, it was a perfect summer destination to visit and only a short drive from Orlando and other Florida destinations.
