You can say I’m bit of a Harry Potter fan. I watch the Harry Potter movies on repeat when I’m sick or need a pick-me-up and can probably quote them a little too well. So, when I found myself in Florida for a wedding and travel blogging conference, I knew I had to rent a car and venture to Universal Studios for the day.

As I arrived to Universal Studios, I found parking and a dark gray cloud looming overhead. It started to downpour, but I wasn’t going to give up. I made my way by ducking under any protection I could with the streets flooding and my clothes and hair getting drenched. I refused to spend money on a rain poncho.

I had made it! I had lunch and tried butterbeer for the first time. I rode some of the rides and the Hogwarts Express. If there was ever a reason to take a selfie, this was it. I wanted to remember visiting this world.

If only I had more time as I only was able to spend a half day at the park. I had missed so many details. They sell wands that make the park interactive as you wave it around at storefronts and displays. I definitely recommend it if you have more than a day to explore.

I enjoyed my solo trip to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter because I could nerd out without feeling embarrassed and was around my kin. Pro tip: You can also take the singles lines to the rides.
